[ModLib] Unbound Kim

It looks to me like unbound pages for a regular Modern Library edition. There weren't, as far as I know, what publishers call "advance issues" for ML books because they are reprints. They have already advanced into the marketplace and were not reviewed. I don't know what the extra strips of cloth, with the red line in the middle, are for unless they were to serve as stronger-than-usual "supers" to go under endpapers, perhaps for a buckram edition.

Subject: Modern library question

I have an unusual Modern library edition. [see photo attached]

This is a copy of Kim that was never bound. Perhaps it was some kind of advance issue (I've seen publishers do this with other books).

Do you know anything about it?
