[ModLib] Who wrote the intro to 167.1?

Scot,
My reading of the last paragraph of the Butcher and Lang Preface (prior to the Preface to the Third Edition) on page ix leads me to conclude that the introduction was written by Butcher and Lang largely for clarifcation of contested issues of their translation.

What do other ML collectors conclude upon reading this preface?
Bill

Subject: [ModLib] Who wrote the intro to 167.1?

Folks,
V. Civiletti points to the ModernLib BookNotes for Homer's Odyssey:
1929 - 1951 (no intro) 167.1
951 - 1960 (Highet intro) 167.2
960 - 1970 (Rees intro) 167.3
He reports that 167.1 does INDEED have a longish intro, but it's unsigned.
So who wrote the intro to the first edition (167.1, 1929)?
