Murry,
It appears to me that this "outlined" torchbearer was tried out on titles pages on books first issued in the 1928 and 1929 transition period. I do not have every title to verify it but from what I've seen it appears in the 1928 titles Swans Way and Mrs. Dalloway. 1929 books I find it in - Bros. K, Salammbo, Death of the Gods, Ab. Psyc., Cyrano de Bergerac, American Poetry 1671-1928,  and Leaves of Grass. The last time I see it is in Wilderness (1930) on the copyright page.
Chad

I noted two or three in my collection, but , like Scott, don’t remember which ones they were.

Might be worth documenting on Scott’s site as variations of the torchbearer.

Has anyone seen another ML book with a torch bearer like the one in the attachment?

Subject: [ModLib] Anybody have a Lardner Orange that ISN'T a first?

Folks,

I'm beginning to think that post-1st reports of the Lardner DJ in orange are spurious. Does anybody have a later Lardner that is in orange?

Thanks,

Scot Kamins
