The Goodspeed translation of The Apocrypha was originally published by the University of Chicago Press in 1938. Random House reprinted it as a Modern Library Paperback in 1959 with a new introduction by Moses Hadas. It's Hadas's introduction that accounts for the 1959 copyright date. Random House acquired Alfred A. Knopf
shortly after the ML Paperback was published. ML Paperbacks were folded into Knopf's superior and better established paperback series Vintage Books, and subsequent printings appeared under the Vintage imprint. The Apocrypha was added to the ML in 1962, using the ML Paperback/Vintage Books cover art but changing the color from red to blue.
