Barry,

I have a stated first and a copy that dates to Fall 1955.  The top entry on every page from p. 469 to the end of the index match.  So apparently no changes through 1955.

Spaeth's Guide to Great Orchestral Music (G61), published in the Giants in 1943 and discontinued in 1970, includes lists of Columbia and Victor records on pp. 469-506. All of those listed, of course, were 78 rpm records. Does anyone have later printings without listings of recordings, or with updated lists?

The companion volume in the Giants, The Metropolitan Opera Guide (G48), published in 1939, dropped its list of suggested recordings (originally on pp. 497-511) in 1946, two years before the introduction of long-playing records (LPs).

I've never seen a later copy of Spaeth's Guide to Great Orchestral Music without the list of recordings, which surely wasn't of much value during the last two decades of its existence as an active title.

If anyone has a later printing of this, could you check and see if the list is included or appears to be updated?

Thanks,

Barry
