[ModLib] HELP ON DETERMINING FIRST PRINTING FOR SMOKE, PLEASE

The device on the title page was used on a number of Boni & Liveright trade titles, but Smoke is the only example of its use on a ML book. I have no idea why they used it on this particular book.

My one and only copy of Smoke is like Jim's, with the publisher's note mentioning fall, 1921. The other curiosity I have with this volume is the unusual, oval Boni and Liveright logo on the Title Page. I don't recall seeing this particular logo on any other early titles. Does it occur on other titles printed at the same time, and/or is it confined to this title?

Hi,

I have two copies of SMOKE Both without jackets. Both have the 1919 copyright.

In reference to Barry's note regarding publishers note adjacent to P234, one book has;

"inluding those published during the Fall on Nineteen Hundred Twenty-one"

the other book has " Nineteen Hundred and Twenty three".

> My copy has a publisher's note facing p. 234 indicating that the list of ML titles includes those published during fall 1919 (the ones that ended up being postponed until spring 1920). The first page of the catalog ends with Chesterton's Man Who Was Thursday and third page of the catalog includes Latzko's Men in War, which was the last title published in 1920.
