ABE books can be so helpful?
I list with ABE 12.3
The Complete Poetry And Selected Prose of John ,Donne (non first therefore no date)
ABE then puts up on my site:
The Complete Poetry And Selected Prose Of John Donne
The 1994 reprint along with Dust Jacket photo and a ISBN number!!
What a hassle I have when I get a order for the book.

Bill, as requested here is the list and a few works about the list.
1. My Modern Library list is attached as a PDF file. All books have jackets except for the Illustrated Editions. All book jackets have covers.
2. My intent is to sell the entire collection in one transaction.
3. I have not decided if this is actually an auction as much as an attempt to find a the right person and deal. Regardless I hope to resolve this by the beginning of July.
4. I no longer have the patience to proofread exhaustively. You may find errors in the list. If so please let me know and I will correct.
5. If you have any questions about the list, ask and I'll try to answer
6. I have not photographed the books in the collection. If asked for a specific book, I will photographed and send you the photo.
7. I'm located within 100 - 120 miles from Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington. Pick-up or delivery is easier and cheaper than UPS.
8. The data on the list or spreadsheet are:
a. TITLE
b. AUTHOR
c. FIRST (author's)
d. BOOK CONDITION (explanation below)
e. COVER CONDITION (explanation below)
f. DATE (if given in book and reasonable to the edition. I'm not into the Torch Bearer's direction etc.)
g. NO (Number given the series)
h. EDITION (Firsts are noted if given in the book. Pencil marks or tape marks are noted.)
9. CONDITION: I have given a letter grade for the book itself and the cover separately. I have used Toledano's guide on p. 15 of his "The Modern Library Price Guide 1917 - 1995."
M - mint . . . looks as if new . . . may have some minor shelf wear.
FI - fine . . . a handsome copy
VG - very good ... obvious wear ... but still good looking
G - good ... more wear
FA - fair . . . a reading copy
P - poor . . . intact but not pleasing to view . . .
10. CONDITION is a judgment call. I have tried to look at the book and the cover with a cold eye. Nonetheless I realize my judgment may be a debatable point.
11. Question of paper: The aging of paper might be a topic of discussion. Some paper seem to age more quickly than other paper. Pages may be yellow.
But as long as the paper is not brittle and the text is readable I have not decreased the letter grade by a significant value.

Dear Mr. Lukanuski,
I received your message via the Modern Library group online.
I have wanted to collect Modern Library since I was fifteen but postponed it for nearly fifty years.
I started nine months ago in earnest.
I would truly appreciate having your list.
You can email it to me at: willthemad at aol.com
or you can mail it to me at: William F. Hornick
P.O. Box 144
Clarksville, NY 12041
I eagerly await its receipt and will give it my immediate attention.
Sincerely, Bill Hornick

So much for subtlety.
I was driven to the understatement.
MODLIB LIST prohibits crass commercialism.
How to say: I have collected, I have grown old, I must lighten the load, my children will give the books away to the Salvation Army?
I would prefer to have someone who collects have them. I would prefer to have a dollar for them so that I may buy a beer.
I hoped a little poetry would carry my message. Who doesn't read Andrew Marvell?
The message is so simple. I am moving on from collecting. I have a list of books I wish to sell. If anyone is interested, I will send to them the list.
Any suggestion how I might use MODLIB LIST to get my message out?

I'm confused. This is a Want list, or a list of what's in your collection, or ...'
