snipe is just another ebay strategy. I don't use it but I usually do "watch"
an item that I'm interested in until the final day of an auction, then
decide whether to bid. This is especially helpful in connection with my
other collecting passions (watches and vintage science fiction) where the
bidding often reaches unreal heights very quickly. When I bid, I place a
maximum bid at the outset and stick to it. One bid per auction and if it
loses, oh well.
