A word in defense of the quiet collector.
I doubt very much if most collectors on this list care much about international book numbers or Buckrum spines.,

Subject: [ModLib] REMINDER: ModernLib is a COOPERATIVE venture!
Please remember that ModernLib depends on its users to supply
information to add to the database.
Right now, only about half a dozen people are regular contributors to
ModernLib. By comparison, well over 100 people (both members &
nonmembers) regularly use ModernLib as a source of Modern Library
information to aid in the development of their collections or to help
in identifying volumes for sale.
ModernLib is a cooperative venture! It really is too big for me to
handle alone effectively - both in terms of ongoing maintenance as
well as the collection of new information.
There are MANY ongoing projects to which you can make an editorial
contribution covering all interest areas. Here's a baker's dozen of
* dust jacket images
* dust jacket blurbs
* first edition book points
* first edition DJ points
* bindings for a given title
* DJ backs for a given title
* metadata links
* biography links
* content links
* classical curriculum placement
* buckrams spotted
* link verification (especially offsite)
Well, you get the idea.
It's YOUR hobby - help build it!

of chains and slavery?" -- Patrick Henry
