No. Neither could Everyman. The tradition of literature isn't
restricted to (mostly) dead white guys. The literature of non-western
aryan peoples is all but absent from both series. ML & EL are great
contributions to literacy; they are certainly NOT the be-all and end-
all of world literature.
When the elephants dance in the lowlands, it is best that the
musicians play from the hilltop.
