A book unread is a friend unknown,
like an unplanted seed, 
upon the wind thrown.
Drifting from village to town,
out on the restless wind,
waiting to be brought around.
A friend is a friend is a friend,
a friend they're called indeed,
waiting on a shelf to the end.
When one picks up the book
and opens the page,
just to simply take a look.
and here is a word or two,
that strikes a friendly chord,
and now a friend to you.
