An old rule of thumb for collectible books generally is to price unjacketed
copies at 10 to 25% (tops) of their value with jacket. In the case of true
rarities, that percentage can decrease drastically. For example, a first of
the Scribners Great Gatsby with all first printing points can be had fairly
easily for around $2,000. A first in jacket recently went for around $140,000
at auction.
