TO ALL MODLIBBERS

THE FOLLOWING IS AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT IS NEEDED FOR THIS EXHIBITION

Vice President of the Book Club of California
Ex Printers Devil (vice president) of The Roxburghe
Club of San Francisco

2 Tell us your general collecting interests

COLLECTS; fine printing, ephemera, woodcuts and the work of
Valenti Angelo, who was the
illustrator for Grabhorn Press, Limited Editions
Club, Peter Pauper, Three Sirens etc.
		from 1926 to 1982.

3 What is your specific interest in ML.

4 Tell us what spurred you into collecting this facet of ML and what
goals you are aspiring to for your collection.

WHY; Valenti did the woodcuts for the Grabhorn Press 1930
edition of LEAVES OF GRASS. When
Bennett Cerf saw this production he bought out the
entire run and published it under
		Random House.
When Valenti moved from SF in 1934 to NY, Cerf put
him to work designing ML dustjackets
		for 6 months.
Still looking for THE PIT by Norris and oddly
enough, A Bell for Adano by Hersey.

5 What one ML book best represents your collection

ML BOOK;	Modern Library giant edition of LEAVES OF GRASS, a
facsimile much reduced of the 1930
		Grabhorn Press edition.
This copy signed by Valenti and with him till the end.
